The Essential invites you to the shopping universe of Anna Faroqhi, where drawings bring an empty store back to life.
The playful installation in drawings and video works is about still life and the creation of the world through drawing and moving images. A formerly empty shop will be revived with The Essentials. Equipped with pictures, drawings, videos and objects a charismatic shop is being created that offers the essentials and questions what is necessary. Faroqhi plays with the nostalgia of a "mom and pop" shop and the reality of modern shopping centers.
Art and merchandise exchange their roles. Hanging up the merchandise on the wall, placing the works of art on the shelves and transforming the screen of the monitor by broadcasting an immobile container of milk or a stop trick animation of rotting apples - teleshopping becoming still life.
